A Required Reading Fail involving Kites
All right, I'll admit it, I didn't care for the novel Kite Runner. It was an interesting story about the Middle East (though I've read better novels dealing with the subject) but here's where the fail really comes in thanks to the parents of my school.
The next year we were required to read Briar Rose. Now this contained a love scene between two men. It was very, very PG and just a nice moment in the book. Of course, the parents wanted the book removed immediately. But when it came to the Kite Runner the previous year, no one said jack squanto and that had a rape scene in it. Perhaps more I can't remember it. Rape is aokay in my school district but two men in a romantic relationship, welcome to the fail boat my friend.
Plus, its a book about kites. Blerh, I hate kites. (that last bit was sarcasm.
