I have been reading a reasonable amount of manga and comics recently! (This year's list has already more than doubled last year's, which more than doubled 2008's. If this trend continues, by the time the year 2020 comes around I will be reading approximately enough volumes of graphic stuff that if it was piled up in a row it would reach the moon ( Read more... )

Ohhh, After School Nightmare. Uh. I sped through that in like two days after I read a recommendation of it, and...well, it's reasonably entertaining (although it made me weirdly uneasy sometimes, especially to do with Sou), but the ending is equal parts "oh, that totally made sense for these characters!" and "--wait, that did not make any sense at all for the rest of the characters, what is this I don't even". So you have been warned!

Ahahaha OKAY! I AM WARNED. (Sou so far seems mostly like a gigantic jerkface; I assume/trust that this is going to get complicated, but I have no idea if it will get complicated in a way that makes me okay with him.)

(It does get complicated! He is a crazy giant jerkface. Although eventually revealed to be not as much of a giant jerkface as he could be. And yet, he is still a crazy giant jerkface. Complicated, yes.)

I actually liked the ending - it was unpredictable but turned out to have been carefully foreshadowed. I did wish it had more closure for some characters, but overall I thought it made perfect sense.

I highly recommend the series as a whole.

All this is certainly making me more curious at the very least! And as a bonus, the library appears to have it in full.
