First, a notice: after today I will probably be pretty much incommunicado the rest of this week, due to Big Work Conference of Epicness Etc. By Friday I confidently expect to have little-to-no brain or energy or polite professional socialface left, so it's fortunate that I have Friday and the weekend mostly free for once to do nothing except ( Read more... )

Aha! I was going to post a poll along these same lines today! I feel you on the exhaustion and needing to grow moss on a couch while watching teevees, I feel you.

I VOTE CROSS-DRESSING GIRL ALWAYS, DUH. But then I saw "Utena" and had to click because I must always choose anything to do with Utena.

Haha, nature I am the BIGGEST SLOTH EVER. Life has recently been thwarting my slothlike tendencies next weekend I plan to indulge TO THE FULLEST.

You should post your poll! I am great at making decisions for other people (at least the kind of decisions that involve clicking tickyboxes) even if not so much for myself.

I chose the two I can help you watch if you don't have copies to watch already.

Heh - reasonable! My method of 'finding copies of things to watch' is generally 'hopefully scour the internet,' because I'm a good citizen in that way.

Indeed. Email me and we'll set up a dropoff time. I'm free all day Friday.

OK, I'll shoot you an email when(/if . . .?) I am consious on Friday. Even if the polls do not go in their favor for next weekend, I'll be watching them at some point!

I voted for Cardcaptor Sakura and then I realized that I have not actually seen all of it or even most of it yet, so, as with Monster, I will be in the position where you are suddenly vastly ahead of me and there is nothing I can do about it. D: BUT DON'T LET THAT AFFECT YOUR DECISION, THE SHOW IS AWESOME.

But I am watching it with my friends! It is a weekly tradition! We're about twenty-eight episodes in, I think--apparently we'll be finishing the first season soon. So basically it really is the same situation as Monster, actually. *g* But it's okay, you have your fun...

Ah, okay - well in that case I understand how it is! And if/when I do end up watching it I will do my best not to spoil you. :D (Also, I am usually a lot slower at zooming ahead in a TV show than I am with a manga, so even with a marathon-tastic head start I may not get that far ahead of you that fast.)

Bah, just read the Cardcaptor Sakura manga.

You should totally watch Nanoha or Mai-HiME. |D

In theory I will be watching all of these things eventually! In theory. In the infinite free time that I do not have. >.> BUT I WILL SOMEHOW.

How about The Vampire Diaries (assuming that you have not already seen it)? Seriously, it's pretty damn awesome. Small-town conspiracies! Awesome ladies! Brothers with immortal snark!

However, I will never advise against rewatching Utena.

I have not seen The Vampire Diaries, but I've heard lots about it! I am intrigued but halted by two things: one, I have a pretty limited tolerance for vampire boyfriends, and two, if I ever do watch it, I kind of feel like I should read the LJ Smith books first even though I know they're nothing alike.

I haven't read the books, so I can't comment on them. I am not going to pretend that the Vampire Boyfriend story in the TV series is New! And! Different! or that it is entirely free of ridiculous melodrama. But it is only one of several stories being told. Also, while the vampire in question can be kind of a broody-pants, he has legitimate reasons for his brooding, and actually displays a sense of humor at intervals. The heroine is smart and brave and calls him on his bullshit on regular basis, and both of them have plenty of interesting relationships with people besides one another. The first few episodes are kind of silly; the story really starts to pick up speed around Episode 4.

I have heard a couple places that the heroine and her friends are awesome, which is what makes me most interested in the series. Perhaps it will appear on the next Tell Me What to Watch, O Internet poll!
