1) I liked it alright - gave it a 3/5. I was not obsessed with it while reading it or anything (could have put the book down any time) but I did like it overall. I thought it helped to give a more human side of the war than some other books I had read that felt less personal.

2) I liked both of the main characters and Will. The rest I didn't feel like we got to know well enough to care about one way or the other. It felt like there was more to some of the other characters from Rosetta's hometown that were in the war, but they never got developed beyond their signature trait.

3) I think pirate_nami's post basically covered that for me!

Something that bugged me perhaps a bit irrationally was how the characters wrote their letters with seemingly random capitalization. I know it wasn't random but it just bugged the crap out of me.

4) Yeah, about halfway through I was like "ughhhhh Jeremiah is going to die and this book is going to be a downer". I hoped it wouldn't be the case but was pretty sure it would happen. I was glad that she was ultimately able to go back home though and face everyone.
