You cannot be exclusively gay and in love with Caterina. No. You can't. You are a dude. If you are exclusively gay, that means you fall in love with other dudes. Caterina is not a dude. You see the problem.
Now, you can absolutely be bi with a preference for men. That would actually make my job much eaiser, not to mention making my story more inclusive.
BUT STOP INSISTING THAT YOU ARE EXCLUSIVELY GAY AND IN LOVE WITH A CHICK.

ETA: this, I should say, is perfectly possible in real life. I don't want to let Antoine do it because it looks very much like he gets "turned straight", which I'm sure everyone can agree is uncool.
ETA pt 2: AHAHAHA I figured out a way to do it without him being in love with Caterina. And I have multiple historical precedents. HA HA. Plus it means I get to use that lovely historical incident where James I Of England banished one of his boyfriends for talking smack about James's wife. HA.
