WHAT. Guys, this is a sex awareness book aimed at kids that includes asexuality. WHAT.
Ahem.
Sex Is a Funny Word is, as I mentioned, a cute little sex book aimed at preteens. It's adorable, and it goes to very great lengths to include diverse characters. One of our narrators (there are four) is visibly disabled, another is fat, a third is explicitly nonbinary, the fourth has two dads. The book talks about being cis and trans and nonbinary, about being queer (mentioning asexuality!!), and about good and bad touch in easy-to-understand language. I mean, you could give this to a eight or nine-year-old to read on their own and they'd probably be fine. The illustrations are bright and cute, the vocabulary is simple but explanatory, and, as I've said, the authors really went out of their way to be as inclusive as they could possibly manage. I love this book. I'm giving it to every kid I can find. A+.
