Your favorite (original) characters to write? asked by
perfectworry Oh, Summer, definitely. I love writing her-- that's her in my icon, actually. She's just different enough from me to be a challenge, while being enough like me to be a joy. She's clever, articulate, sweet, and basically perfect. I just love her, period, and I would love to write more characters like her. Author's pet.
Other characters include Miranda (ruthless as fuck, hard on the outside with a soft chewy center, complicated and fun), Gabrielle (just a total sweetheart, and I love her relationship with her brother), and currently Anna Warmind, since I appear to be in a "spies and espionage are cool!" phase. But Summer is my favorite favorite favorite.
Writing you find inspirational by
thebonesofferalletters Ah. Hm. Andre Norton's Witch World, and Marie Brennan. Both of their books make me just want to sit down and write. Nonfiction, especially if it's related to something I've had in mind. Romance novels usually make me want to write, if only out of "I can do better than that."
Ooh! Jane Austen! I love Jane Austen. Reading her books makes me just want to write a story as good as that. I actually probably identify waaaaay too strongly with Jane Austen, come to think of it.
