What have you recently finished reading?
Jane Boleyn, by Julia Fox. A good overview of Jane's era, but not a lot in there about Jane herself. That was part of the author's point, but I still got kinda angry about it.
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake, by Sarah McLean. Fun, romantic, sweet. Cute story, but then I enjoy watching people in love be idiots about each other.
Anahita's Woven Riddle, Meghan Nuttall Sayres. This was lovely. Lyrical and sweet and all about the riddle of life in general. Highly recommended.
Fiddler Fair, by Mercedes Lackey. Book of short stories by Lackey. Not as good as I remembered, although the ones about Martis and Lyran remain awesome.
A Hidden Magic, Vivian Vande Velde. This, on the other hand, was as amazing as I remembered. Ah, my childhood.
What are you currently reading?
Unabomber, by John Douglas. Still on a Douglas kick.
Little, Big, by John Crowley. Fabulous book. Really rich and detailed tapestry of a story. Actually, Best Beloved, I think this book would be right up your alley and I recommend picking it up if you get a chance.
Catherine d'Medici, by Leonie Frieda. Just barely started this one so I can't really tell you much, but so far it's good!
Daughter of Smoke and Bone, by Laini Taylor. Kinda eh on it so far, but we'll see how it goes. The arrival of real, genuine angels has definitely perked me up a bit.
Fair's Point, by Melissa Scott. Had to skip ahead to be sure that my idiot boys weren't big enough idiots to break up. Now I'm taking it slow and savoring.
What will you read next?
Whatever I grab off the TBR pile. No big deal! I don't really have a plan right now. Maybe The Wood Wife, by Terri Windling, as it's a desert fantasy and I love the desert so much.
