Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
WELL THAT WAS HILARIOUSLY TERRIBLE.
Upsides: Jeremy Renner is mostly naked at one point, Jeremy Renner is hilarious, the actors are clearly having a good deal of fun, the nerdy kid is stereotypical but cute all the same. Oh, and THE TROLL'S NAME IS EDWARD. This will be funny if you see it.
Downsides: Uh. Everything else? Well, it's ableist and sexist, way too gory, two of three major female characters die and one of them totally unnecessarily, all the villains are disfigured women (see, ableist and sexist) and the plot is both dumb and infuriating.
It's nice to see a movie where the major male and female characters are not in a romantic relationship (five bucks says people are shipping them anyway, though), but the negatives outweigh the positives. Final verdict: if you're a really, really, REALLY big Jeremy Renner fan and can find a way of seeing it without paying for it, get drunk and do so. If not, don't bother.
