Hokay, so.
B left this morning for his return journey to the land of Rochester. And I miss him eversowickedmuch. But if you know both of us, you are entitled to TWO hugs-of-greeting, one from him and one from me. If he does not give you two, report back to me and demand that hug!
I'm excited to be starting school. I'm ready to get that ball rolling. It's strange to not be going off to school. Instead, I'm going to wake up on Tuesday, September 6th and roll out of bed, and instead of going to work, I'm going to go to class. Yup. That's it. There's no big packing, no long car ride, no excited reunions when I'm back on campus. I think that's the part I'm going to miss the most--that feeling of seeing this person you haven't seen in months and had forgotten how much you liked and missed.
I took a tour of my new building last night-the one where my department will be. It's nowhere close to being finished. It's a spiffy as heck brand-new building, but there's a lot of work to be done. Hopefully it will be done by the time I show up in a week. On this tour I discovered that the stairways are roughly comparable to those at Hogwarts (as in, you never know where you are *really* going), that printing is 5 cents a page (as opposed to 8 at rochester), and that I get some particular amount of free print credit. yay that. But the building is pretty and it's easy to get to (bus and a walk across Harvard Yard).
Well, my cable just got fixed, and now it's time for me to venture onward to Harvard Square and some sort of amusement for myself, after I eat a tasty tasty pbj.
To bits and anyone else rocking out the orientation thang, you will survive. really. good luck.
