gives a new meaning to the term "cheap eats"

Highlight from work this week: since I graduated in May, I am what is known as an "on-call" employee. Basically, I'm not a student but I'm not a union member.

I found out today that on-calls get one of the same perks as full-time (year-round) employees...40 cent meals when the cafeteria is open! Since the high school debate camp moved in on Sunday, the caf is now serving meals, so when I'm working, I can eat there. So for forty cents, I can have unlimited food...today I had a grilled cheese sandwich, a pickle, peaches, a salad, and soft-serve ice cream with strawberries (the soft-serve machine will be my downfall).

But seriously. Student workers have to pay $2/meal, which is what I've paid the last three summers and found it to be a good deal. And now that's what I'll be paying per week (assuming I'm there for five meals, which I won't be).

Rather exciting, in a way. It reminds me that God cares about the tiny details of my life, down to the money I spend on lunch.
