Okay, so I lied and I'm commenting on the new Naruto chapter

Who saw Madara letting Sasuke out to deal with Danzo coming? *raises hand*
Also, this is kind of difficult for me to say, but Gaara? Is kind of right. Sasuke is not Naruto's friend right now, even if Naruto is Sasuke's friend. Not that I think Naruto should give up, mind. I still think there's a chance something will snap Sasuke out of it. We still don't know what Itachi gave Naruto for the eventuality he needs to save both the village and Sasuke, right? Also, the only real test we've seen of Sasuke's resolve re:Naruto was the slooooooow mooooootiooooooon swooooooord aaaaattaaaaaack with oooooother peeeeeeeoooooople aroooooooound. Not Sasuke's most convincing performance, really... Maybe if Naruto's actually going to get killed (by someone else), Sasuke'll react? *clinging to optimism*
I'm also holding out hope that the inevitable redemption isn't Kishimoto pulling a Star Wars. It's been done, and while it was cool the first time it is now simply lame. I refuse to accept that Sasuke will simply not be redeemed. The point of this story is that a) fighting for the people you love makes you stronger, and b) if you don't accept failure, you will succeed. Failing to save Sasuke runs counter to these themes, and so if Kishimoto is any sort of good writer he won't let it happen. Plus, Sasuke is apparently his favorite character. I find it difficult to believe that he'd turn his favorite character into a flat, uninteresting bad guy.
