A Day in the Life

New Utah Driver's Liscence:  $20
New Utah Car Tag: $99
New Windshield for Utah inspection: $192
New Emissions Check:  $25
Gettin 100% on my driver's exam when the 3 in front of me failed: PRICELESS  (Thank God it was open book)

I thought I'd go in, pay my fee, get a bad photo taken, and go home.  The test was a total surprise.  Never saw it coming.    I finally broke down and bought the new windshield I didn't want to buy so that I could get my inspection sticker.   All in all the process took all day.  The DL office is in north Salt Lake, the Emissions check/Windshield Repar is in Center Salt Lake and the DMV is in South Salt Lake and the waiting is ridiculous.  Nonetheless, it's all done finally.

Paying the money and sitting in wait was a pain,  but getting dirty looks from the little old LDS ladies who saw me reading my new Sylvia Brown book made it all feel better.  Between my trucker/biker/inmate looks and my Gnostic reading material -- I get those looks a lot around here.   I'm rarely in the mood for a religious discussion, so when asked what my denomination is, I normally say, "I was born Methodist," and leave it at that.  Telling them I'm a Gnostic Christian is generally asking for a headache....though I've noted a few interesting similarities between Gnostic and LDS beliefs.  (BTW - I've noted that some of my friends list tend to get on long philosophical religious texts.  If any of you have any knowledge of Gnostic beliefs relating to the Masons (of whom Joseph Smith was one) educate me.  I'm curious to find out if the LDS beliefs really do link to some of the Gnostic beliefs without having to read two dozen books)
