This meme was inspired by my realization that I have not read all of the books written by even some of my very favorite authors. I just haven't had time to get to them all! Have you
( Read more... )
1. Are there any authors you love so much that you have read every single book they have ever published? List them. I’ve read all of Jane Austen’s works (including the incomplete ones), all of Agatha Christie, Josephine Tey, Maeve Binchy, W. Somerset Maugham, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Mark Billingham, John Fowles, J.K. Rowling, and Jan Karon.
2. Which of those authors has written the most books? Definitely Dame Agatha - she wrote 66 novels, 15 short story collections, and two autobiographical works - I’ve read them all and own them all.
3. Who wrote the fewest? I think Jane Austen wins here. She wrote 6 novels.
4. Are there any authors you've read almost all of? Yes. I’ve read almost all of R.K. Narayan (and it is the problem of getting his works in Canada that prevents me from completing all of his works), Margaret Laurence, Miriam Toews, and Terry Pratchett.
5. Are there any authors you are currently working on reading all the way through? Certainly. Stephen King is the main one, but also Jose Saramago, and Graham Greene.
6. Are there any authors who you thought you had read all of until you googled them for this meme and have now discovered they have a new book out? (yay! More reading for you!) Yes! Peter Robinson! I got an e-mail from Amazon this morning, promoting books released in the last week or so, and I noticed he has a new novel on the market.
How exciting it is to hear about a new book from a favorite author! I was so happy when I saw there was one more Lois McMaster Bujold I hadn't read yet :D
Oh, I adore Bujold! She mostly writes sci-fi but she's done some fantasy too. Her main series (with 15 books and counting) is the Vorkosian saga. Its a space ship/space travel/interplanetary politics/crazy mad-cap adventure series. Her main character, Miles Vorkosigan, is one of my absolute favorite protagonists in literature- no joke. He starts out with the huge disadvantage of physical weakness and poor health in a society which favors strength and toughness, and so has to get on top using his wits and his cleverness instead. I read the whole series in one huge gulp over a summer a few years ago, and it was sooooo much fun!
