It used to be that Livejournal was the primary way in which I stayed connected with the universe. Then FaceBook came along and I (along with many others) spend a good deal of our time there.
Enter HealthMonth. For the month of September I chose a rule on HealthMonth that requires me to write in a private journal a minimum of 3xs a week. Since I don't keep a paper journal, I decided to just resume my writing here since it's unlikely anyone will read it anyways. If you DO still read LiveJournal, do leave me a response so I know there's actually still someone out there.
Now that the explanation is covered, on to the daily "this is what we did today". Actually, I should probably start with a "this is what happened over the last 29 months" first, shouldn't I?
Well, I had that baby I mentioned in my last post. He's a boy, his name is Alexander Lukas Baer and he's now just a little bit over 2 years old. I've turned into a pretty stereotypical stay-at-home mom which, on one hand, is kinda lame. On the other hand, it's pretty cool since I never had a stay-at-home-mom and one of my dreams/life goals was to be that mom I never had for my own kids. :-)
For the past few months we've been working with a designer, Sara Eizen with The Nest in Seattle, to furnish our home. Yesterday a couple couches we'd previously ordered from Couch Seattle arrived, so today we decided to spend a good chunk of the day running around to various furniture stores to check on some things. In abbreviate form, this was our itinerary:
- Went to Camelion in Ballard to check out a couch Sara thought we might like. Decided that it was comfy, but aren't sure it's what we want for the space. It's a maybe.
- Stumbled across Skarbos Furniture in Ballard and decided to take a peek. LOVED the cream sectional couch in the window. It doesn't fit the furniture plan we came up with with Sara, but we REALLY like it, so maybe it's the plan that needs to change!
- Went to Better Bilt in Queen Anne to get a better idea of the cabinet Sara emailed us. It's a bit stark, but kinda cool. It doesn't work with the original plan, but it might look pretty good with that Skarbos couch. Something to consider. . .
- Went to Bellevue Square - were starving so first we sat down for a late lunch - soup & sandwiches. Stopped by the AT&T store to clear up an issue with our bill (they messed up our messaging play!).
- Went to Crate & Barrel to check out the ottoman cubes (the smoke one at least). They're what we expected, but we're now thinking about going with 4 of them in a 2x2 setting rather than 3 in a row. Also, they won't work for toy storage as they're too hard to open. Decided that we're going to have to get the Nilo Storage cubes for Alex's excess toys.
- Went to Bo Concept Urban Design (across from the mall) because they looked kinda cool. Didn't really love anything, but saw a neat rug with a crossword puzzle concept that kept Alex busy for awhile. I really hope we can find something like it somewhere. I get the feeling we really should have bought it today. What's the opposite of buyers remorse?
That's about it! When we got home we fed Alex who was SUPER cranky due to no nap. Peter and I were pretty much still okay from our late lunch, though I snacked a bit. Then we watched the first 30 min of WALL-E (Alex's pick), but Alex to bed and now Peter and I are just hanging out in the media room on separate computers. Typical Saturday night in the Baer household. :-)
