Out of Touch

Sorry I've practically dropped of the face of the earth for the last month or so.  Mostly I've just been adjusting to working again, although that's really not a good excuse considering that 1) I never bring work home with me and 2) I'm just not working very many hours per week.  Truthfully, before this week I felt I was ramping up rather well.

I had hoped to average no more than 3 hours a day during my first month of work and gradually work my way up to 4.5-5 hours over a couple additional months so that I'd be at full strength for the holiday season.  For the month of September I did 57 hours of massage over 17 work days which is an average of 3.35 hours per day.  I'm averaging a bit less than that so far for October, but part of that is due to the fact that I've been out sick almost all this week.

Have I mentioned that I HATE being sick?  Not that anyone actually enjoys being sick (except maybe hypochondriacs, I guess).  It's been at least 18 months if not closer to 2 years since I've been sick, too, which somehow makes it feel worse this time around.

I'll be back to work tomorrow even though I still have that end-of-sickness wracking cough - you know the one.  You're fine until you get a throat tickle and then you cough so hard 6-8 times that you actually gag yourself.  Fun times.  Luckily I've got a cough spray from Whole Foods that literally kills all sensation in your throat so I'm hoping that if I spray myself up in between clients tomorrow that I won't actually have any problems during each session.  Cross your fingers for . . . .well, for my poor clients more so than for me.

And now I need to head back over to my GoodReads page.  I've done a ton of reading while I've been sick and I'm about six books behind on my reviews.  BTW, just in case anyone cares, I'm at 140 books and over 49,000 pages so far this year.  That's 21 books ahead of where I was the same time last year, so it looks like I'll have a new record.   And there's no chance in hell I'll run out of things to read - I've got at least 80 books in my home queue and another 125+ on my Amazon wishlist.
