When I was in school, we used to have weekly "Singing assemblies" where we would all be crowded into the hall, words would be projected on a screen, the music teacher would man the piano and we would all be forced to sing along to about half a dozen random songs of varying age and quality. Actually, the White Ferns are the women's cricket team. The women's rugby team are the Black Ferns. I have no idea where you got "Gal Blacks" from. o_0

We do have a women's soccer team, but they're called the Football Ferns because, let's face it, you can only take a theme so far before all the good names are taken.

Right. Okay, so I said I'm not a sports fan, right? I'm sure I heard of *a* rugby team called the Gal blacks, but that may have been a junior team. Or a joke before they settled on Black Ferns.

I saw on the news last night we now have a national Dodgeball team called the Black Keas. Yes, Dodgeball. I did check the date to make sure it's not still April.

Yeah..., I am beginning to see a pattern there, when it comes to your teams' names.

Our country's through to the next round. We'll have to see how far we'll get. It doesn't much bother me one way or the other. I'm not a big football-fan.

There was a brief, mad period when our national badminton team were referring to themselves as "the Black Cocks". Sanity eventually prevailed.
