This I swear by the stars

I spent the first part of the night battling insomnia, the second dropping in and out of fitful sleep, tossing and turning. I woke up tense, my hands balled into fists. I’m exhausted now, almost as sluggish as my computer, drinking Ayla’s coke in the hope that it will help me wake up and be analytical and articulate.

First some silliness.

Favourite Literary Enemies

Jean Valjean and Javert - Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo (this is my oldest and most beloved protagonist/antagonist favourite.)
George Smiley and Karla - Smiley Trilogy, by John le Carre
Jack Randall and Johnny Vinaldi - Spares, by Michael Marshall Smith (OTP!)
Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy - Harry Potter series, by J. K. Rowling ( I love this one for some of the awesome fic it’s inspired)
Elspeth and Ariel - Obernewtyn Chronicles, by Isobelle Carmody (I don’t think this relationship would interest me as much if I read the books for the first time now, but I adored the whole ‘predestined enemy’ thing as a teenager)
Jack Zandt and the Upright Man - Straw Men Trilogy by Michael Marshall
George Wickham and Mr Darcy - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Angier and Borden - The Prestige, by Christopher Priest (I admit, I liked the movie better. I thought it pared the story down to essentials and was therefore more powerful.)

Does anyone else adore protagonist/antagonist relationshps? What are some of your favourites?
