If your teen (under 18) wanted to be featured on an MTV reality show, would you give consent? Would it matter if it was something like True Life: I'm Going to Harvard as opposed to something like Engaged & Underaged, or Sixteen & Pregnant? If my teen wanted to portray him/herself as a moron, I wouldn't allow it. True Life: I'm Going To Harvard? Fine. Sixteen and Pregnant? No. If it's something I'm not happy about, I wouldn't give consent to glamorize or glorify it on television. Hopefully, I wouldn't have to tell my kid not to dress like a streetwalker ever, let alone on TV. If I thought there was the potential for "making the family look bad" or making my child look bad, I wouldn't give my consent.
