Let's at least make the question a broader one...

Is there any religious belief system, philosophy, or political association you would react negatively to your child adopting? Which one(s) and why*?

*The why is optional if the answer is relatively obvious. I think everyone here can figure out why a parent wouldn't want their child to become a militant Neo-Nazi, for example.

religion, politics

I must be talkin' to the wrong Catholics, then! But, I can understand that sentiment. I want my children to have G'd the same way.

Lurker note: I read a bunch of your comments here and you seem awesome. I know you're not in the market for new friends, but if you were to be interested, I think we'd have a lot in common :)

Funny you should ask, because just the other day I was reading YOUR profile and was a little bummed that you don't accept new friends! I'll go ahead and add you :D

Warning: I pretty much talk about planning my wedding nonstop, interior decorating, and my odd case of baby fever.

Any, and I mean ANY, *follower*-based religion would be somewhat disappointing to me. The hate-spewing ones in particular, of course.

I would hope that my kids will think for themselves and do a lot of research from all around the world, and come to their own conclusions about the Truth. I think it's possible to identify as a certain faith, while not buying into all of that particular set of dogmas. In fact, it's a lot healthier and a sign of a stronger mind and stronger faith. I hope she works out her own faith, without needing to follow anyone's lead.

I'd only have a problem if they became anti-choice and used their religion as a means to hate in the name of a God. You know, like those God Hates Fags people or Jack Chick stuff. Other than that, whatever. I don't care.

If my child were to become childfree, I would be quite upset. Also, assuming my conversion goes as planned, I will raise my children to be rather strictly Jewish and would be upset if they became non-observant Jews or switched religions entirely (if my conversion never happens, then good Noachides they shall be). If my children were homophobic, racist, or anti-choice, I would be angry.

By childfree, do you mean choose not to have children?
