So, for Christmas we got a family membership to the YMCA/JCC in our area. They offer preschool swimming and other enrichment classes for little ones. We plan to enroll Elliot, who is 3.5, in a class next month. The choices are soccer, ballet, and swimming. He loves all of these things pretty equally. I am partial to ballet, because I danced for 7 years and loved it as a kid. Daddy doesn't care. Grandpa, who is generally pretty cool, made a comment that he shouldn't take ballet, as he is already going to be made fun of for only having one ear (he has a birth defect called Microtia, you can see it just a bit in the icon), and that taking dance lessons would just make it worse.

The debate: Is putting a little boy in ballet classes going to make other kids be nasty to him? Is this something you would think about when deciding what classes to put your kid in? Which class should I put him in next month?

ETA: If he does dance or soccer this time, he will do swimming next time, before the summer.
