Say there's a law in place where you live, which either you disagree with altogether, or think carries an excessive punishment. Your child was caught breaking this law, and hit with the (in your opinion) inappropriate punishment. There are a lot of stupid and pointless laws on the books all over, however stupid they are though, laws still can't be broken. Break the law, face the consequences.

I hope to God my kids would understand that. It's already something they've been taught.

When I was in high school there was a curfew law in place. My parents set my curfew later than that but let me know that if I got caught I was paying the fine myself.

B. I would encourage them to research and make a case if they want to fight it, but I'm not gonna fight his battles when he made such a choice.

D) Tell them they have to deal with the consequences, as well as actively working on getting the law changed.
