your child is high school aged. for the sake of this scenario, you do not approve of and do not allow your children to watch certain types of R-rated movies (in this case, gross/sexist humor).
child comes home one day and announces that they got to see an R-rated movie in one of their classes as a reward because the class quickly finished all their work for the day/week. not only that, it was the unrated, uncut version with all the extra inappropriate content because that's what the teacher had on hand in her car. no one was allowed to go to the library/study hall if they did not want to see the movie.
when a call to the teacher to politely complain results in a "they're old enough, so what's the big deal?" type of response, how much hell do you raise? go to principal? go to superintendent? ask/demand your child be put in someone else's class? other?
inspired by a conversation with a customer today--who told me that her then-freshman daughter's English teacher last year put on the unrated version of Talladega Nights for the class, and gave her complaint that kind of response when the parent told her that she did not appreciate her child being made to watch something and someone she did not approve of.
