For those who homeschool, pretend you don't for purposes of this question.
How much responsibility should fall on parents in terms of their child's schoolwork? Should parents be responsible for checking and ensuring that assignments are complete, on time and done correctly? Is it a good idea or a hassle to have to sign a planner every night, detailing what was done in class and what is due? If it is the parents responsibility to sign off, how would you feel if students were penalized for it not being signed?
How would you respond to homework being less 'student-led review worksheet' and more parent-child reinforcement assignments where the student is more or less responsible for reteaching the material to the parent and learning it together for review and study purposes? Do you make your kids do their homework or is it on an 'its up to them and they know the consequences of not doing it'
Switching gears a bit, do you go to parent-teacher conferences? Do you find them to be worthwhile? If not, what could make them more effective?
