Inspired by reminiscing with my mom about cool birthday parties I had as a kid . . .
In 3rd grade (when I turned 8), my parents threw me a "formal dinner party." It was great -- they dressed up as a maid and butler, all the kids were invited to come in fancy dresses (all girls), we handed them fake-flower corsages when they arrived, and i even went to get my hair done before the party. It was really well done.
For dinner, they served (on the good china) chicken, corn, and mashed potatoes (lol) and fake alcoholic beverages -- they put pink 7-up in champagne bottles to serve "champagne," mixed something into the Coke to make a "rum and coke," etc. All my friends loved it, and the parents mostly exclaimed over what a cool party it was . . . but in thinking about it last night, I wondered if the average parent today would be okay with his or her kids pretending to drink alcohol, drinking out of old wine/champagne bottles, etc.
So, booju, fun idea or inappropriate? WWYD if your child went to a party and this happened?
