After several rounds of unsuccessful fertility treatments, you discover that you (or your partner) have become pregnant with sextuplets through IUI. Your doctor says that the chance of all six babies growing to term and being born healthy is nearly zero, and suggests that you undergo selective reduction of at least two, if not four, of the fetuses.
Would you decline? Why? Would you regret your choice if the babies were born months premature, and four of them died while the other two had severe complications from their prematurity?
ETA: Would your answer change if it was triplets?
ETA, again: What about if it had occurred naturally (without fertility drugs etc.)?
