Actually, I think after reading further comments, you're right to say that. You're absolutely right. I was going to argue, and say I'm a 2nd year college student that has a junior standing credit wise, and a 3.8, with an A in a literature class (in which she didn't mark off for spelling on handwritten papers...) and so on...

But you're right about it needing to be learned. Hopefully your kids will turn out better than me. ;) It's striking a balance between the being discouraged over their writing- and making them hate it, which can happen, and teaching them that certain things need done. And keeping them from being overly perfectionistic lunatics when they're older. But! You seem to have a really good grasp of everything. It's possible your youngest is bright, that she will grow... Maybe have your oldest daughter type her job applications? You should be able to turn off autocorrect, and she may be shocked by what she gets wrong! I always am. I spell certain words wrong all of the time, and only noticed when autocorrect was turned off, and the red wavy lines showed up. You could use a computer as a tool? Their teachers will give them As, and they can still learn. *~shrugs~* either way, good luck with this!
