When are you too old for concerts?

My older brother has a vivid memory of when he decided to stop going to music shows. He says he was probably about 24, and he was seeing the J. Geils Band. Some 16 year old was stumbling by, stopped and threw up on his shoes. It suddenly hit him that he was too old to be in some cramped room getting polluted by some kid too intoxicated to even notice him, let alone apologize.

Based on the band playing (and knowing Eric, "J. Geils" probably only means Peter Wolf era Geils) that was probably over 25 years ago.
