Look at this man's stats since he joined my beloved Phillies:
3-0, 24 ip, 16 h, 3 er, 6 bb, 23 k's, 1.13 era
Cute picture of him down below (or after the lj-cut...)
These stats won't stay this good but us fans can dream, right? :-)
It feels strange that the Phils were the ones going out and making the trade deadline move this year. I recently posted a fic and the last time I wrote one, it was 1998. Well, in 1998, the Phillies were trading AWAY one of their previous big acquisitions Gregg Jefferies. Now it's 2009, and the Phillies are trading FOR players instead...how times have changed.
It's been a weird time to be a phan. I should not be griping, but it feels different. I am not used to the national media giving us the type of positive attention we've been getting. Sure, we just won the World Series so it is to be expected. But,in my heart, I STILL consider the Phils to be the "lovable losers" of Major League Baseball - not only are we the ONLY professional team in history to lose 10,000 games - we have (including last year) a total of 10 - count them 10 - playoff appearances in (drumroll please) 126 years of existence. It's still not exactly a record to crow about...
