I think I may be weird

Sometimes I see people standing around work's watercooler having a conversation. I think it might be cool if I was to introduce myself and take part. Unfortunately I also think how I wouldn't fit into their conversation because frankly, my interests are these odd non-pop culture type things and I would have no idea what they are talking about.

Here are a few examples:

  1. I have no idea who Snooki is and why he/she is important (or if he/she actually is).

  2. I am familiar with Jane Harman. I am less familiar with Jane Lynch.

  3. I find news about the United Kingdom's upcoming AV Referendum fascinating. And I'm in the USA.

  4. I get excited when I hear the words “President Barack Obama will be holding a press conference today.”

  5. I was mad at myself when I was a little late for work in the morning. And I wasn't mad b/c I was late for work-- I was mad b/c I realized I had missed the inaugural Osborne/Balls Treasury Questions I was planning on listening to.

  6. Like many people I plan on watching the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate on April 29. I will probably follow it on my computer in the morning at work. Not like most people I am definitely NOT watching to see what Kate's dress looks like.

  7. I am more interested in other aspects of United Kingdom's Royal Family, though. Recently I got lost on the web as I was looking up what the Privy Council does and also what Nick Clegg does as Lord President of the Council.

So as you can see-- these are unlikey to be topics that the watercooler co-workers are talking about. I still might wind up talking to them eventually. They could be talking about work gossip and not about current television or movies and it might pay off-- who knows? In the meantime, it's nice to have LJ so I can finally have an outlet for this other weird stuff. :D
