I will announce that my job now officially sucks. It's been a pretty good job for the most part; I liked it for a whole six months, which has to be a record for me, but the liking has quickly decayed into hating for several reasons. Want to hear them? I thought you did. Here ya go:
1. Scheduling. I normally work a variety of shifts, usually 2 opening shifts a week, 2 closing shifts, plus one that could be either opening or closing. For the last month, however, management has deemed me worthy of only closing shifts, which means that I am at work every day until 10 or 11 pm. Which means I get to see the Bubba for a whole hour or so every day, and maybe a few extra hours on the weekend (I almost always work weekends.)
2. No Benefits. Yeah, just none. Unless I want to wait for the hypothetical "promotion into management" that was talked about during the interview but hasn't been mentioned since. My God, this is a company that brags about how well they treat their employees, but they're such cheapasses they won't even give you benefits unless you agree to work 45 hours a week.
3. No Hours. For the first 5 months, I worked 37.5 hours a week (again, with no benefits. Isn't that illegal or something??) Anyway, 2 weeks ago, my hours were reduced to 19 a week, and next week they are 12. WTF?? I'm pretty sure the reason for the drastic change is that an extra manager just transferred into our store from another city, into my department of course, and he's getting all my hours. Aargh!
So tomorrow my boss is getting a piece of paper stating that they only have 2 more weeks to suck the life out of me 'cause I quit. All done.
Okay, this concludes the bitching and ranting about my job portion of the evening.
And I think I feel better now.
