Cheap DVDs Online? An Open Discussion
Considering how few people buy DVDs these days (at least, in my uni and my workplace, I only know one person who actually buys DVDs (hint: it's me)), you'd think they'd be nearly as cheap as VHS tapes by now. I've been watching Penn and Teller: Bullshit! on youtube a lot lately - well, I've been watching Penn and Teller's everything on youtube lately and I'm running out of things to watch - so I decided I want the real deal. I want it on DVD.
So I did some shopping around. The following is the result of my own search + the recommendations on a bargain-finding website.
Search: "Penn and Teller" - the show is called "bullshit"/"BS"/"bullsh!t"/"bullsh*t" depending on the site, so I stuck to their names. Still, I got a lot of this:
Luckily for me, every site that had Penn and Teller DVDs had Bullshit. Specifically, I wanted to compare prices on the entire collection.
eBay (my personal favourite of late)
Total: $177.26
Well, that was ok since the combined prices of buying all the different seasons seperately on eBay was over $230. Not a super bad price, but I was sure I could do better.
DVD Empire
Total: $175.99 + Undisclosed Shipping Amount
What I liked about this one was that instead of the regular 16 Discs like everyone else had, these guys boasted 20 Discs!!
But man, I HATE that. Just when I get excited about a good price, they have a little note at checkout saying "Oh, by the way, $55 postage on that plzkthx" (I don't know if these guys do. I wasn't gonna interrupt my search for something silly like that!)

Total: $153
Oooooh, my two favourite words: "Free .... Shipping ....." Mmmmmmmmmmm
Looking pretty good so far. Nearly clicked "Add To Cart" on this one.
DVD Planet
Total: $147.94 + Undisclosed Shipping Amount
Good price, but as I said, I just don't like hidden costs when it comes to shipping.
And the winner turned out to be ......
Total: $124.14
Wait, AMAZON!?
Yep, Amazon - which I avoid like the plague - had the best price by far, AND those two orgasmic words "Free Shipping"
By the way, I have to name them to shame them - this was the worst price I've ever seen. AND these guys were recommended by that bargain-hunting website. LOLWUT??

It's not even the full 8 seasons!! It's only 7!! In a VALUE PACK!! Hahahahaha, oh man, but the bit that gets me is the "+$2.99 Shipping" in fine print like it's hiding. Hahaha so awesome ~
