TOONS!

As you all know, this weekend was Bearvillities and it was AWESOME! Tim and Bill outdid themselves this year.

This year was "my year" because there's nothing I like better than cartoons. And because it was "my year", I ended up in a LOT of numbers but, despite that, the show was AMAZING! :D

Scott designed the set to look like a giant TV with a functioning scrim so that we could show videos on it and use it as a curtain as well as a giant box of cereal (with bowl) and a carton of milk. It was all hand painted and looked phenomenal. People thought it was printed. My husband is great at what he does.

We started off with a quick montage that led into Aqua's Cartoon Heroes (I had a costume change in the middle... from jammies to tuxedo) that got our host on stage. From there we had one of the local drag queens up (who's number I did not see, but went over well) and that led into a Battle of the Bands between Jem and the Holograms and The Misfits. After that, I was up as Elmer Fudd... or, should I say, Ozzy Fudd. (I found this mid-80's Weird Al kind of thing that was all kinds of heavy metal awesome and led into it with clips from "What's Opera, Doc".) After that was "I Must Not Chase The Boys" by the Scooby Gang, then Trixie and Speed Racer were up for a little "Sex Drive". The Goldielocks Trio channeled Josie and the Pussycats in their number "The Evolution of Cats".

And then... the number that almost killed me. I had been challenged about a year ago to sing "Yakko's World" during this show. So. We started with my friend Lorinda singing "Wakko's America" and me bopping around in the background. It got to me and there were three things working against me. I'm nervous, I'm a smoker (yes, I started again... working on quitting again) and I've had a cold for the past week. Now, if you DON'T know the song, it's all of the countries of the world circa 1990-ish sung to the tune of the Mexican Hat Dance. It gets higher in pitch and FASTER as the song goes on. I could not get a good breath through the whole song. I just about passed out and it was visible during the number.

After that was "Kyle's Mom's a Bitch" which was the number of the evening. Short but HILARIOUS! Then came Lois Lane and Jimmy Olson singing "Does He Love You" by Reba McEntire followed by Granny, Sylvester and Tweety. Words cannot describe that number. Suffice it to say that saggy boobs were involved. Then came Betty Boop with her classic "I Wanna Be Loved By You" and our big showstopper "Bag of Weed" from Family Guy. I was Stewie but I forgot my costume and had to do it in the jammies I'd been wearing all evening. It worked, though. We had the bong xylophone and big joints and passed out munchies and bags of fake weed and the bongs had dry ice in them so they smoked and everything. It was AWESOME!

The second act started with Strawberry Shortcake performing I Want Candy. This was fun because I had to get from Stewie to drag in about 15 minutes, including a corset and a top layer that pulled off for a reveal. I was panicking HARD. Of course, no one told me my skirt was completely jacked up. I was a little upset because I worked hard on that skirt. It's all good. The number worked except for Huckleberry Pie's pants that worked great during rehearsal but did not rip off properly during the show. It wasn't the best number but it was fun.

After that, another local drag queen number that I didn't see (sorry) followed by The Powerpuff Girls singing "Candyman". Then Beauty and the Beast's Belle sang Bad Romance (Clay sang live and was AMAZING!), Jabberjaw warned us about a "Shark in the Water" and G. I. Joe celebrated the repeal of D. A. D. T. by dancing to 24K's "Don't Go There". And then, I, as He-Man, told Skeletor how to be "Popular" (yes, just like in Wicked). Dora the Explorer was then outed as a Mexican drug/gun/baby smuggler with "Shadows of the Night", then Poison Ivy and her plant, Lola, sang Beyoncé's "Poison" to Batman and Robin. Rainbow Bright reminded everyone that they are a "Firework" then Vanity Smurf put on "a little more mascara" and Wilma Flintstone closed out the show with a Vegas-Style rendition of "Bad Girls".

It was a LONG show... like "I was ready to shout "Kunta Kinte"" long, but it was a HELL of a lot of fun and, as of the end of the evening, with not everything counted, we raised over $8500 dollars!

And THAT, my friends, is why I'm so insanely proud to be a part of this show every year.

Next Year is Bearvillities On Broadway! More info as it becomes available.
