I'm in the market for a decent and flexible portrait lens for my canon rebel.
Do you have one that you like and can recommend ?
I ideally don't want to spend much more than 200 dollars, is that even possible ?

less than 200 is pretty tough. maybe the 50mm? good for portraits but not all that flexible. my favorite lens is my 17-40mm. It's pretty expensive but great for portrait as well as environment. Here are a few:

the 50mm shots look great too but you can't zoom because it's a fixed focal length.

Yeah, I have the standard lens that came with the canon and it's pretty good for portraits but I think I can improve on it by getting something with a zoomlike quality...

The 50mm is a pretty good lens to have because it has great aperture (picking up available light) and it has a good range of focus. if you really want a zoom that isn't that expensive, maybe the 75-300 or 55-200? I don't remember what the stock lens is..
