So this is the school's journal network? Not much here yet. Guess we're here early. If anyone can read this, my name is Zero. I'm a Maverick Hunter.

This place is strange, isn't it, X? Even the Mavericks wouldn't have a hideout like this. Makes me wonder about the headmasters. I'm still not sold on the armor either. Are you adapting alright? I know ( Read more... )

It really is something else, huh? This armor's a whole lot heavier than what I'm used to, and it's made of a much softer alloy than Titanium-X. I don't know about you, Zero, but I feel a whole lot clunkier.

I guess it's a good thing we don't have to worry about Mavericks here. It won't matter if we're slower or weaker, unless we get a surprise attack from Antique Anteater or something.

You have a point there. I guess there isn't any harm in being weaker when the opposition is weaker. It's just weird being heavier and everything. I still haven't adjusted to the new sounds when I walk though. I never really noticed the noises I made until they changed.

Antique Anteater? What ability do you get from him? Some kind of appraisal gun? *laughs a little to himself because that "joke" wasn't awful at all*

I know what you mean. It's almost like being a whole different reploid, isn't it? I wonder if this was what it was like for robots before our time. I guess we'll get used to this too, sooner or later.

*Zero, X probably heard that because lol roomies, so you got yourself a "Zero you dork" grin from across the room.* Not just an appraisal gun. A supersonic one! Who needs things like Shotgun Ice when you can generate price ranges at the speed of sound?

Probably something like this. I wonder if I should feel nostalgic.

*Zero isn't exactly sure why they're talking over the journals when they're right across the room from each other, but the grin warmed the heart he doesn't have~* Sigma will be bankrupt in no time.

Maybe we should start talking in a really tinny monotone like robots do in those really old 19XX movies. You know, for authenticity's sake?

*At least X isn't using your computer to type his replies, Zero. Look at it that way.* That's the kind of strategy I could get behind. Who needs armors when you have economics?

It's a little weird, thinking robots actually used to be like that. I've never said "beep boop", and I don't ever plan to.

*What no sitting in Zero's lap awww.* It's kind of funny. You really would prefer fighting Mavericks financially, wouldn't you?

Technically, you just did.

*Well he's made of steampunk metal he weighs like a zillion pounds.* Honestly...? Yeah, I would. Nobody ever got hurt by budgeting, right?

...I typed it.

*It's a sacrifice Zero would be willing to make.* Not physically, anyway.

It still counts!

*But is it a sacrifice the chair is willing to make?* Exactly! If something has to get hurt, then better a wallet than a reploid. It's not like we really need a whole lot of money, anyway. Just enough to cover maintenance, right?

It does not.

*If these asterisks were canon, Zero would go searching for a weight capacity sticker.* Research too, but yeah, I see what you're saying. Too bad it's not the kind of thing Mavericks generally go for.

Does so. Talking over the internet is still talking.

*Oh Zero, you're so thoughtful.* I guess if things could be settled that easily, there wouldn't be any need for Hunters. Still, it's nice to dream.
...Maybe next time I get deployed on a mission I should see if the Mavericks are interested in settling things with rock, paper, scissors.

I was just saying that I've never said it though. How else were you supposed to know what I was talking about?

*All for you, babe~* ...I'm coming with you on your next mission. Ideas like that could get you killed one day.

...Good point.

It was just a joke, Zero, relax.
Anyway, it's not like there's anything wrong with trying to talk it over. Just assuming that neutralizing the enemy is the only option doesn't make us any better than the Mavericks.

...Sorry.
I know you like trying to talk it over. I just don't want you to get hurt trying.

If there's a chance that even one Maverick will be willing to surrender peacefully, then it's worth risking that, Zero.

Anyway, you know I can take care of myself, right? I'm not that B-class rookie anymore.

If you say so...

It is kind of hard to remember that. It wasn't that long ago that you were.
