also, i call cellphones, mobiles. the cultural difference is amazing!
Jin sometimes wondered who Yamapi liked better; the mobile phone or him. He felt that it was a very valid thing to be concerned about, thank you very much. After all, aside from his underpants, that mobile was the thing that was around Yamapi the most (and while Jin had some... strange dreams about Yamapi, and one which even involved being the wallet Yamapi tucked into his back pocket, and therefore indirectly touching Yamapi's behind all day; never in any of them was he a pair of Yamapi's underpants).
The phone followed Yamapi to work, it followed him to bed, it even came in the bathroom with him (and sometimes, when he was bored, even the toilet). In fact, excluding Ryo (who didn't count because it was Ryo and for some reason, Ryo had this strange, strange thing for Shige where he couldn't actually tell him he liked him, but instead, mocked him mercilessly) and Toma, Jin's closest competition for Yamapi's attention was his mobile phone.
And of course, he had to know how fierce the competition was, so he cajoled Kame who had annoyed Ryo (just by being himself, apparently) who had insulted Shige's intelligence, talent and/or face into calculating the probability that Yamapi liked his phone better than he liked Jin.
Shige had sputtered, and then, pouting attractively, had passed a note back to Ryo who had stared at the answer and then laughed about it before scrunching the note up and pelting it at Kame who only sighed and passed it to Jin.
Jin eagerly scrambled for it and opened it, eyes wide with excitement. When he read the note, his face fell.
"What does 'THE ANSWER IS 42' mean?" he demanded. "42 what? 42 percent? 42 cans of beer? 42 ways that Yamapi totally likes me better than his stupid phone? I DON'T GET IT."
"You know," Kame said, "you could always just ask Yamapi."
"He'd know what was 42?" Jin said hopefully.
"No," said Ryo, "but if he didn't know what it meant, he'd make it up and you'll believe him anyway."
("...42? What's that got to do with anything?" Yamapi said, propping himself up on his elbows to stare at Jin balefully.
"Just tell me!"
"You," Yamapi said, "are dumb. It's 42 because that's how many times I'm going to hit you if you keep stopping to ask me questions when you're supposed to be sucking me off."
Then, later on--
"You know," Yamapi said casually (after gagging Jin and then showing him why shutting up was a really good idea), "Shige did mention recently reading a translation of a book by some guy where the answer to everything was 42."
There was a muffled shriek and then an outraged silence.
In the middle of reading a school book for homework, Shige sneezed.)
