So, I am at work, being pretty damn sly about posting this entry by typing it into a text box I'm supposed to be typing in and copying it into the LJ post window when my boss is out of the room. Hell yeah. But my job has gotten pretty rad as of today. As most of you know I've been through the typing literally thousands of cards and then after that going through (no joke) 14,000 files and switching one thing and approving them...and now I'm going back to the job I was actually hired for... titling and describing pictures and tagging them according the the library of congress's rules. Actually way more fun than it sounds.
That being said doing any task for 5 hours straight can make one a little loopy. SO basically I'm supposed to look at the picture, make up a fairly descriptive title for it and then write about a two paragraph description and then tag it and do some other technical cataloging things you don't give a rat's ass about.
At first my titles were very straight forward... "Two men in trance at prayer meeting", "Homeless man picking over plate of food", "Boy in prayer" and the like. But as my day goes on, and I get more and more caffinated (they shouldn't give us free tea here, really) my titles are getting more and more abstract. Now I'm getting into titles liek "White gloves on pew" or "hands, rose, coffin." And I keep getting tempted to just let myself go all the way and put shit like "Gangsta-ass funeral" or "Hobo Dance party!!!" but, each record is linked with the person who made it, so I think i'm shit out of luck.
But yes, work is significantly improved. In other news, our Ed Wood Film (the one I posted on here earlier) made it into the top 15 films!!! That means we get ours screened for sure (there's 5 wildcard spots that the other 25 or so films that didn't make the top 15 battle it out for) in the ed wood film festival where they're judged by a panel of industry people. (I believe there's also an audience favorite voting thing) But yeah, if you're interested at ALL in seeing my directing, jessee's fabulous cinematography and some of the greatest robot sex of all time, please please PLEASE come Sunday (i know, it's the superbowl, but it'll be over by then) at 7:00 for refreshments or 8:00 for the screening! It's at USC in the Norris Cinema Theater and you can see it on the big screen!
So yes, that's my life. School and work are keeping me obscenely busy. That plus working on several movie projects has taken over my life, but I'm pretty damned content. Also Jaime showed me the wonders of the salvation army and i bought a jacket that's so neon yellow i'm pretty sure it exudes it's own light. And trust me, that has greatly improved my life.
Please come see our ed wood! It's funny, I swear! And we worked so hard on it!
All for now,
Kelly
