I don't really understand the hyperbole over movie sales. If they're charging twelve and a half dollars a ticket now, that's twice as much as when we were kids. Of course it's going to look like the movie is making gazillions.

Yeah, but even with inflation there hasn't been like, a fervor over a movie like this in a long ass time. Not with the lines and what not.

but also, i heard that if you calculated inflation, gone with the wind made more money than any movie ever...

I tried searching for other movies I remember actually having to wait in line for, but at most they came up with a $50-70M opening weekend. Also, i just read that The Dark Knight made back it's ENTIRE budget solely on its opening weekend.
