So there's these two prostitutes that work the street that my bedroom window overlooks (S. Figueroa) and I've recently become rather entangled in their lives. I know watching people from your window is fucking creepy but I can't help it, it's like a soap opera and i jsut have to see what happens!
Today was a rather dramatic day in the world of Ling-ling and Shaquanda (as i've named them). See, normally ling-ling works the far side of the street, and has for a long time. She also works almost solely during the day, which I belive is pretty profitable for her as I've seen her pick up at least two jobs in the time I've been watching her this week. Shaquanda works the night shift, and also has to work this shitty, rather hidden corner closer to my apartment building. Not as much visibilty and not as much money. Ling-ling is way hotter, so I guess that's why she gets the primo spot. But anyway, this morning Ling was arguing on the phone with her (presumably) pimp about how much money she made and how "i'll tell you when i'm done! i'll tell you how much i made tonight!" as she was walking up and down the street in her minisucle jean skirt, halter-top and 6" heels. She seemed to be quite upset. Now Shaquanda came over and started working the corner of the block that Ling was on, and as I was leaving, they looked like they were about to start a fight over it. When I got back today, Ling is now on the shitty corner and Shaquanda is on the good block, and I wonder what happened. Ling looks pissed as all hell, standing there with her arms crossed, talking on her phone and Shaquanda is strutting about all happy like. So I'm pretty sure Ling lost out to Shaquanda...I can't wait to see what happens tonight.
Well, aside from prostitute watching, I've been going to all my class, and that involves biking. Biking in down town los angeles is ....let's say.... an adventure. I have to ride on the sidewalk because if i didn't i'd have been run over about a billion times....so today i'm riding home past the collisieum and I happen to be riding at just the right time for the sun to be behind this large vertical barred fence, so that when i'm riding fast, the light ends up looking like a crazy strobe light. I almost crashed when it first happened, because I couldn't see anything, but when i got used to it and realized that "california dreaming" by bennassi was playing I couldn't help but imagine myself riding my bike through a rave...then i thought that would make an awesome scene in a movie... like some HUGE intense rave and some crazy motherfucker fucked up on all sorts of shit riding around it on a bike, running people over, crashing into things and just laughing....i can't help but imagine Bryan doing it. Hahaha... but yeah.
There's an MRS show tonight at 10:00 at ground zero, if you can, come we'll have mics this time, so you will be able to hear us! yay!
I'm getting over my cold. This morning was bad, I thought i was going to pass out in the middle of the photo lab at one point, but I managed not to...mainly because I was afraid i'd whack my head on the enlarger and break something expensive, and I can't afford that.
speaking of photo, i have so much work to do in there...i have 7 prints due thursday and a TON due two weeks from now, so i'm going out to the salton sea all day saturday to take pics. Plus a gallery on campus wants to see the pictures i'm going to take in hopes of maybe showing them with this earthday piece! (isn't that awesome? maybe i'll get a gallery hanging! wooo!) but yeah. wow.
things are rather crazy at this point in my life in just about every aspect, but i think it's a good thing...plus i have a toaster oven now, and I can't really ask for more than that because, let's face it toaster ovens are the greatest invention of all time. Fuckin' A i love them.
All for now
-Kelly!
