Turn on your television. Take a look at the news. Have a good cry. I did.
Thirty-one people are dead so far, and at least another twenty have been wounded in a school shooting at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Virginia. This has been quoted as the deadliest, largest mass school shooting in American history. Sickeningly, that's pretty impressive.
I didn't know anyone who went to the school, but I feel as though I might as well have. This little tech school is just like the one Chris attended. The kids who died were probably just like my baby, bright young people just trying to learn how to make an honest living. This just hits a little too close to home for me. I feel more than a little sick.
It hurts to imagine so many young lives extinguished (most of these kids were probably younger than me) in such a stupid, needless fashion. It hurts to imagine how tortured and full of pain an individual must be to unleash this kind of suffering on others.
I just can't believe this has happened again.
