The Luckiest Invalid in the World

The only nice thing about being injured, is the fact that you get to find out what wonderful friends and loved ones you actually have.

My Mum brought me a floral arrangement while I was still in the hospital, recovering from my surgery. It's made mostly of blue hydrangeas. They look like they've been painted in water-colours, and they smell really beautiful. I brought the arrangement home with me. It's on the coffee table in the living room now, next to my make-shift recovery bed.

When I got home from the hospital this afternoon, I found a bouquet of flowers that my brother left for me. It's made up of carnations, asters and freesia. I arranged the flowers in one of my Mum's crystal vases. It's in the living room, too.

Lorraine, my friend from work, stopped by this evening to drop off a very thoughtful gift. It's a portrait of me that she made and framed herself. She based her drawing on a picture of me, dressed as a geisha, from last Spring's Cosmetics Gala at the Bay.

Tonight, Steve and Vanessa Da Silva came by for a visit. (The icing on the cake: Steve finally got my missing possesions back from Falynn! Yay!) Jenny came, too. Jenny and I had a girlie flick night. We watched Just My Luck, starring Lindsay Lohan. Jenny had to help wheel me to the couch in the basement for the movie. It was funny. We're resourceful.

Tomorrow morning, Chris is coming straight to my house from work. He'll be here at eight a.m. to wake me. I get to start my day with a big Chris cuddle and kisses before my healing reiki session with my therapist.

This whole invalid thing isn't as hard as I thought it would be.
