Update for the Last Few Days

I haven't had time to post in awhile, so you get the crash course:

FRIDAY

I had to get up at 7 in order to make it to the San Elijo meeting before the full Senate Meeting. Way too early. Lot of the same legislative business. There were a couple of issues where I was the only one voicing any opposition. That was tough; being the only person to raise your hand in objection. A couple days later, Thom would call me to basically congratulate me on voting with integrity and he said he agreed with me on the issues but, as an executive officer, he had to play strategy for when he'll need funding for "New Beginnings" in April.

Soon after getting home, Matt called to see if I could make it to a sort of good bye lunch at Red Robin. What began as a 1:30 lunch ended as a full day excursion. Mike Gallagher, Laura, and Hannah were there as well. Afterward, Laura, Matt, Mike, and I went to the Carmel middle school playground where we later met L'Matt. Besides playing on the Seuss-like jungle gym, Mike, Matt, and I played handball. We were later joined by 5 or so little kids so there was a pretty full court at one time. To make things more interesting, we would call out our super hero names as we hit the ball each time: "The Fraiz!" "Octagon!" "The Human Curl!" and so on. Then it was naming movies for certain actors or directors. Eventually, it got dark, Lexi joined us, and we lost a L'Matt. Then, onward to see Jarhead with Ashton and Brianna. But, of course, we missed the 7:30 showing. We all kinda split up for a bit. Matt and I ditched most the of the rest of the group at various times just for kicks ("Hey, did you guys get your tickets, yet?"). Then there were a few rounds of "Ten Fingers". Everyone basically had the goal of beating Matt, because, well, it's hard.

Eventually, we all met up again for the 10:30 showing. Jarhead was pretty awesome. Everything I was hoping it would be. I was especially impressed by Jamie Foxx. Then, eventually, I got home at around 2:30. Matt came with because he needed a place to stay for a night or two.

SATURDAY:

Mike and Matt were going up to LA for a film festival, so I figured, why not? So we went up to LA, along with Lexi. For about an hour and 45 minutes of the 2 hour drive, I was holding my bladder. By the time we got there, I had to jump out of the car and get to the McDonald's bathroom. Of course, it was coin operated and the lock was broken. Plus, there was an angry black transvestite already waiting. We got a worker to open it but I ended up pissing off the transvestite by asking if I could go first because I'd been holding it for so long. He/She called me "White Boy" and spent most of his/her stall time muttering about me. Welcome to LA. I walked from there to Amoeba Records and met Knowledge on the street corner. A sort of intellectual, political rapper who sounded English but had adopted Armenia as his country was on the street. Bought his cd for the hell of it and talked to him for a good ten minutes. Met back up with the group and saw Giovanni Ribisi walking out of the record store. Finally found The Ponys' cd inside. It's an absolutely huge place. Slightly out of the way, tho.

Later, we caught the student film festival. The one we went to see was the best; a Queen musical whose lyrics had been rewritten and involved singing fruit. After, Mike and I tried to pick up some stuff from NYFA but it was closed. Then on to Wolfgang Puck's for dinner and then the usual browsing through the Universal City Mall. We got back around 12 and then played Truth or Dare for a couple hours, because kids never grow up. To show for the trip, I have two cds and an awesome t-shirt you'll probably see me wearing.

SUNDAY:

Gym, then off to the showcase rehearsals dowtown. On my way back, I hung out with Lexi at her house for a bit, then rushed home to finish a speech outline I'd forgotten about. Ended up finishing it, because I'm that cool. Monday: Yesterday was the showcase. It was a lot of fun and went off without any real hitch. Everyone's scene was over too quick, but that's to be expected. Matt and Mike came so it was nice to see someone I knew afterward. My dad came as well and congratulated me, which was nice. I didn't have my headshots in time, so I printed them at Kinko's earlier in the day for a total of 80 fucking dollars for only 15 prints. I wrote my resume five minutes before leaving for the showcase. I know, I know, very unprofessional. On the way back, Matt and I owned Mike's ass in Freeway Chess, then ditched him again to go to Starbucks.

Anyway, I have class in five minutes, but that's the gist of the last few days.
