I went on the most amazing trip this week. The marching band went down to the country of Antigua which is an island in the West Indies below Cuba almost to South America. It was sooo beautiful down there. Breathtaking at times.
We had to perform a lot though. The first thing we did when we got down there was change and march a parade that felt like at least 1.5 miles in like 90 degree weather. The resort was worth all the performances though. There was a pool and a private beach and 3 open bars. One was a wet bar (connected to the pool) and another was open till midnight. All of it was free (or atleast we already paid for it in staying at the resort) and there was no drinking age. Lets just say there were a LOT of drunk people. The coolest thing was that there was a Daiquiri machine. It was like an ICEE machine with pina coladas on the other side that you could get as much as you want and a bottle of rum was sitting right next to it so you could mix your own. I fell in love with strawberry daiquiris the first day. Virgin daiquiris. I didn't go crazy or anything. The mai tai's were good too I have to admit. Despite the massive amounts of drinking among a huge group of college students, no one got arrested or even escorted back to their rooms so we were perfect lil angels. All except Dr. O and Dr. Mobbs. They definitely had a lil too much a couple of times lol. You could tell. It was great. And they definitely took all of us to this liquor store where everything was half the price of it here. A lot of people went crazy there too.
The nights were fun. They had a live band that played calypso type music so we were all dancing. It was so much fun. I haven't been able to dance in a while so i definitely enjoyed that. Oh, and the midnight walks on the beach were to die for. There were so many stars and the water was so relaxing. It was definitely a romantic scene. At first it put me into a funk and then i just said screw that and enjoyed the time i had there.
I met a lot of new people while i was there. Okay so I've been marching with them since band camp so they aren't really new but they were new to me lol. I met Bobby when he was drunk. At least the next morning he remembered talking to us. He just couldn't remember what our names were. Then there was Justen at lunch. He's really cool. He still talks to me. And I got to know Garrett better. Maybe not as well as Nikky did because he seemed rather attached to her most of the trip. Those are all trumpet players. And then I got to be more aquainted with James and Katy. Moreso Katy. We hung out the first night and were going to kick Ricky out of his room cuz it was much better than our rooms and we didn't want to sleep alone but we couldn't get the key from him :( lol.
So I had a blast and I can't wait to go on another trip next year. I just really really hope that my schedule will allow me to take marching band.
Now I am off to my SAI meeting to have some more fun.
Bye everyone! I hope you have a blessed evening and I will talk to you soon.
