Nan-ao Part 2 - continued

We all had to go outside, because of the mosquito smoke, and by the time I left (I was on the computer at the time) only the Hong kong girl () and someone I hadn't realy chatted to - I just assumed he works here or is a friend of the farmer. Anyway, it was raining a little so we decided to go and get some icecream. On the way, I spotted a very large grasshopper type insect, about as long as my middle finger. Me being me, I go and try to pick it up. Normally when I try to pick up insects the Taiwanese react strongly telling me not to, to be careful and general fear. The guy told me to watch out because his legs can hurt, I should pick him up from the front. Only afterwards did I realise he was actually encouraging me to pick it up. He asked me if I used to catch lots of animals when I was young, and told me he used to pick up all sorts of scary and dangerous stuff as a kid. So it seems I've finally found a taiwanese who shares my interest in the less cute animals of Taiwan.

Back at home we shared pictures of animals we'd found, and then he invited me to a night walk in streams and along a wall etc to find some little animals.

That night, I slept much better, and I was thinking more along the lines of trying to extend my stay.
