I've moved into a new flat. It's just a bedroom cum living room - pretty spacious, with two desks, a bed (of course) a sofa and a tv in, and a small bathroom.
My first day, I went hashing on sunday, and before going out I went down to the landlords flat (she lives just below) to ask her where the department store was, and she said she could take me if I wanted (I showed her a shopping list of things I needed. We didn't have any mutual times we could go, so I went with another friend to Carrefour and bought some stuff myself.
The next day, she called me in the morning and told me to come downstairs. I did so, and saw a selection of things on my list and some stuff not on it. I just said some I want, and some I didn't because I already have them. She helped me carry the stuff upstairs, and then started going around opening the windows, and felt the bed cover I'd bought saying oh, that's not cotton. I started feeling a little awkward, like she was kinda stepping over the boundaries of Tennant/landlord relationship.
She asked me on Thursday when I would return from work. I felt a little awkward about this question - is she wanting to know exactly what times I'll be arriving back every day? However, it turned out she wanted to invite me to come to her house for food that evening. So, I went down, and after eating we chatted a load and got to know eachother. She seems really cool, and she invited me for food saturday too, and afterwards we played x-box :P
So yeah, I think I've made a new friend :) Her English is getting better and better - we started off just communicating in Chinese, but I think she was just out of practice. Hopefully we can help eachother practice our respective languages too :)
