We all love us some pie

How much do I love that Thursday is not only the SPN season finale, but National Apple Pie Day? That should impel at least one person to write some Dean fic. I've been enjoying Show recently; it's not perfect, but it's compelling - and interestingly, I've had no desire to talk about it, or meta. I just want to watch and have a good time. If I wrote ( Read more... )

SGU is reasonably good, at least some of the time, but it's just dark and dismal. I have a very hard time sticking with it. BSG rewarded me sufficiently to persist in spite of the lack of happy-place fodder, but SGU has been more uneven, and sometimes it just feels like a slog. I'm a few eps behind at the moment, which is too bad because I stalled right where it supposedly started improving a fair bit. I dunno.

If you do watch SGU, you'll really need to start with the pilot and take it from there. It's the sort of show where you really need to see all the eps in order; otherwise you'll miss too much and what follows won't quite make sense.

But wow. I miss SG-1 and SGA so very much. *sigh*

SPN helps. A Castiel fix goes a long way with me. :-)

Hmmm, I'm torn then. I gave up on BSG because of the seemingly pointless doom and gloom, although the boy kept watching it intermittently so I still had a vague contact with it. Still, it wasn't what I'd call a satisfying fannish experience, despite its moments of intellectual interest. Maybe I'll give the SGU pilot a try. At least these days most shows' back-catalog is available online and it's not a pain to find.

Ah, Castiel. I like him on the show; I just hate his (and Misha's) crazy fangirls. But for you I'll make an exception. ;)

I think I benefit from not being in SPN fandom. I know people who are, but they're the saner sort, and they never point me toward the crazy so I'm pretty much sheltered from it.

I recently listened to the Gloria series podbook by Unoshot... hang on... okay, it's these three:

In Excelsis: http://unoshot.livejournal.com/695.html
The Mountains in Reply: http://unoshot.livejournal.com/2406.html
Angels We Have Heard: http://unoshot.livejournal.com/2941.html

AMAZING stuff. Castiel character studies in moments/scenes across an extended arc. That's the good stuff. There's what I'm in it for. :-)

OTOH, the wee bits I've seen of Misha's interaction with his fans and with the public in general does suggest that he has a wicked sense of humor and a willingness and ability not to take any of the crazy too seriously. That's nice.

Thanks for the recs, I'll check them out.

I think that if I met Misha on a plane or something he'd be a funny, intelligent guy that I'd be glad to know, but I don't enjoy the way he eggs on his minions sometimes. I mean, he's clearly smart enough to know that everyone is not as smart and together as he is, and using his position to mess with people is imo creepy.
