run away from creepers

My neck and shoulders are so very stiff this morning, not from sleeping wrong, but as if I've been exercising. But I haven't ... at least not up there.

Last night while Jessica and I were doing our weekly 3-mile walk around the lake, a dark car pulled to the side of the road just ahead of us in an equally dark spot. Its windows were tinted, and Jess and I didn't feel right about it. So we quickly hashed out a plan in case something were to go wrong while walking past it, and she pre-dialed 911 on her phone. Yeah, as we walked past, the passenger's window was rolled down and the car crept along beside us. Nobody called out for help with directions; it was just quiet and creepy. So we nodded to each other, turned around, and sprinted up the hill the way we'd come to a shopping plaza 0.3 miles away. I've never run uphill so fast before!

We thanked God for keeping us safe, and acknowledged that we'd reacted well in the situation. If the person in the car was a creeper, then good, running away was a great choice. And if the person in the car was innocent, well then, he needs to learn a lesson about not being creepy, and hopefully us running away demonstrated to him a need for change in his behavior.

You'd think my legs would be sore from that. No, it's my neck and shoulders. What the heck.

flakey, 911, jessica, exercise
