sunday morning

Somehow I slept in this morning, missing both of the alarms that I have set for myself. So since I'm not at church like I'd wanted to be, I'm reading and singing and listening to solid music here at home. Hah, this after a discussion with Gerry last night about how he misses church. It's a humbling thing for me, putting me in my place, eh?

I woke up singing the first song below, and the second came up in my iTunes this morning and has stayed with me.

Oh, worship the King, all glorious above.
Oh, gratefully sing his power and his love;
Our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

Oh, tell of his might; oh, sing of his grace,
Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space;
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
And dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

The earth with its store of wonders untold,
Almighty, your power has founded of old,
Established it fast by a changeless decree,
And round it has cast, like a mantle, the sea.

Your bountiful care what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light,
It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain
And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
In you do we trust, nor find you to fail;
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
Our maker, defender, redeemer, and friend!

O measureless Might, ineffable Love,
While angels delight to hymn you above.
The humbler creation, though feeble their lays,
With true adoration shall sing to your praise.

If you ask me to leap
Out of my boat on the crashing waves
If You ask me to go
Preach to the lost world that Jesus saves

I'll go, but I cannot go alone
Cause I know I'm nothing on my own
But the power of Christ in me makes me strong
Makes me strong

Cause when I'm weak, You make me strong
When I'm blind, You shine Your light on me
Cause I'll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don't need me
How amazing to find that you want me
So I'll stand on Your truth, and I'll fight with Your strength
Until You bring the victory, by the power of Christ in me

If You ask me to run
And carry Your light into foreign land
If You ask me to fight
Deliver Your people from Satan's hand

To reach out with Your hands
To learn through Your eyes
To love with the love of a savior
To feel with Your heart
And to think with Your mind
I'd give my last breath for Your glory

It's raining outside, and it's beautiful.

Last night I dreamed about my wedding, and how it was a huge and unorganized disaster! Everybody was confused, and nobody knew what to do. I tried to give direction, but they acted like I wasn't even there ... typical for a dream. So I decided to call it quits for the day and try again the next day.

That next morning, I called the wedding party and vendors together for a quick rehearsal, but the people who actually showed up were my brother, my parents, and all the town elders from the movie The Village. Nobody who was actually supposed to be there. They had all sorts of ideas of their own and kept talking over me until I screamed, "THAT'S ENOUGH, PEOPLE! THIS IS MY WEDDING, I'M IN CHARGE, AND IF IT TAKES ME BEING A BRIDEZILLA TO ACCOMPLISH THIS THING, BY GOD, I'LL DO IT!" Oh, yikes.
