contentedness

My wedding dress is on sale ... for only $69 plus shipping! Too bad that my actual dress is hanging in the closet, already bought and paid for. Oh, that sales were retroactive... True, I got an amazing deal when I purchased it, but still ... $69 is even more amazing! Waaaaaaaay more amazing!

Now would probably be a good time to take to heart this verse that I memorized as a wee lass:

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5)
The "loves" in our lives sure can manifest themselves in strange ways. I'm sorely mistaken if I think that an idol is strictly wood or stone!

On a different note, about a dozen people came over last night for what turned out to be a pretty fun Christmas party and game night! They were mostly friends from my past, not people I keep up with currently, but all of us seemed to get along great. It was low-key, and we played games like Settlers of Catan, poker, and Dutch Blitz. Yummy wings and things for snacks, and my iTunes on "random" for music (always a fun option).

The following shot of Vicky, Victor, Dave, and Jason makes me laugh! (Oh, Jason. You're precious.) I have seen hijacked pictures on other people's blogs before, but this is the first time I've accidentally captured one myself:

I feel kind of awkward as a party host (the mixer and mingler person), but it brings me great joy to be able to share my space and my stuff. Last night worked out well that David officially "hosted," while my home was simply the location. Is there a way to do more of this in the future? I sure hope so.
