getting ready for the road trip
Gerry and I are leaving in a few days to attend the wedding of our dear friend Laura (lajea) and see all sorts of other friends along the way! This includes Chip (chippa), Heather, and the adorable Avery ... if we can figure out where the heck they live. I have an address, but Google says that there is only a gaping black hole where the house should be. Hmm, maybe Tropical Storm Ike hit them harder that I thought it had.
Anyway, we're going to see a slough of people! I'm especially looking forward to meeting Holly (blessings101) in person since we missed each other the last time I was in Indiana, and saying hi to Ashley (mccurn) whose grandmother and family I met a while ago! And then we'll stay with Gerry's buddies from California who recently moved east.
Yippee, yippee, yippee!
Tonight we talked a bit about expectations in terms of the trip. I see it as an event that's going to take a little bit of planning, both physically and financially, and also a little bit of preparation ... packing, printing maps, choosing hostess gifts, etc. Gerry's more organic in his approach ... it's just going to happen, and we'll deal with anything that comes up along the way. We can certainly work together on this, but if we don't even realize that our approaches are different from each other, there's a ton of potential for miscommunication and hurt feelings (I feel that Gerry's not doing anything, and he feels that I'm too anxious).
Is this something that most couples differ on?
